Meet The Captain & Crew
Your Guides On The Water
Dave Summers
Dave has been fishing the North Vancouver Island waters for over 50 years. He started as a guide 40 years ago and is now known to his clients and friends as the “fish whisperer” for his ability to find fish, especially halibut and salmon. His sense of humour and happy demeanour will make sure you have a blast on the water as you fill the boat with fish.
Even when not guiding full time, Dave will most definitely be the entertainment back at the lodge with many of his hunting and fishing stories from all over the world! Over the years, hundreds upon hundreds of clients and friends have been amazed by Dave’s ability to figure out where the fish are biting.
Dave has all his Transport Canada requirements, and industrial first aid.
David Summers Jr.
David is an indispensable part of Serengeti Fishing Charters, with his own knack for finding salmon and halibut, skills he appears to have inherited from his dad. Starting from his first fishing trip at nine, David now guides the Ms. Heather III and has reeled in two of the largest Chinook Salmon (64 lbs and 62.5 lbs) in Port Hardy to date.
He has become well known on the North Island for catching monster Halibut as well, including a 260 lbs Halibut in 2013, and two over 300 lbs released in 2014, a guided record out of Port Hardy.
David has his marine first aid, MED A2, and many other safety requirements, including his Limited Masters, a ticket which allows him to captain a vessel up to 60 tons.
Thomas brandwood
Meet the another member of our crew. Thomas is an experienced angler, not only in Port Hardy, but the entire west coast. As an avid outdoorsman, his passion for fishing mirrors Dave and David, sharing stories and actively listening to yours. His patience and enthusiasm is commendable and we’re thrilled to have Thomas on our crew.
Thomas has all his required Transport Canada certificates and first aid.
